De Deense politievrouw Sarah Lund is aan het inpakken: ze verhuist binnenkort naar Zweden, waar ze gaat samenwonen en begint aan een nieuwe baan bij de Zweedse politie. Maar dan krijgt ze nog een laatste, lastige zaak: de negentienjarige Nanna Birk-Larsen wordt vermoord en verkracht gevonden in een heideveld. Haar opvolger, Jan Meyer, lijkt niet geschikt om de zaak op te lossen, dus blijft Sarah iets langer. Uitstekende politieserie, dankzij de mooie opbouw, de interessante personages en het goede spel. Vooral het personage van politicus Troels Hartmann blijft lang ambigue. Na het eerste seizoen kwamen er nog twee seizoenen, die ook van vergelijkbare, hoge kwaliteit waren. Het derde seizoen speelt zich af in de wereld van het bedrijfsleven en de financiële crisis.
